Marteniçka is tied to the wrists with wishes for goodness, health, abundance, business and money. After the martenichka is attached, when the first stork of March is seen, its red and white part is removed and tied to a fruit-bearing tree. The other part continues to be used as an accessory. It is believed that if a stork is seen while wearing the marteniçka, the wishes made while wearing the marteniçka will come true. Marteniçkas are worn with the same wishes and used as accessories not only in March but throughout the year.
