Ceramic, in its simplest definition, means clay that has been shaped and fired at very high temperatures. Ceramics are materials that are hard, brittle, have a high melting point, have low electrical and heat conduction, good chemical and heat stability, and high compressive strength. Ceramics consist of clay, kaolin, quartz and feldspar materials. The mud, which consists of a mixture of these substances in certain proportions, is compressed and shaped and then left to dry. After the drying process, it is baked in ovens at high temperatures above 1050 °C to ensure that it hardens thoroughly. Afterwards, the front side is usually covered with a protective, transparent and shiny layer called glaze. Since it is handmade, it may vary slightly.
