When the first stork is seen after the Marteniç is attached, its red and white piece is removed and tied to a fruit-bearing tree. The other part continues to be used as an accessory. It is believed that if a stork is seen while wearing the marteniçka, the wishes made while wearing the marteniçka will come true. Marteniçka is worn with the same wishes and used as an accessory not only in March but throughout the year.
